Fall 2013 issue of TrusteeLTA is under new management! Consistent with the idea of a new look at LTA, a new managerial position—Association Manager was created and Timothy Gavin hired to fill the post. Tim has been involved in many LTA efforts and those of you who have met or spoken with Tim know that he is always eager to hear feedback about how he can help to improve LTA’s services, and he would love to hear from you.
He knows, as does our board, that we can only accomplish what we want to do as an organization by being on the same page. Tim brings not only a new look to LTA but also a wide variety of talent and experience. Tim is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo with a BA in English and Geology and, true to his true calling—Information and Library Science - holds an M.S.I.S. from the University at Albany.
Tim lives with his wife and three year old daughter in Ballston Spa. In addition to his love for his family and people in general (especially those who support libraries), Tim also loves creatures of the four-footed variety. Married to a veterinarian, he has a household full of animals. Tim also enjoys music, DIY projects, and nature - especially National Parks.
LTA is moving forward with an aggressive membership drive and a reworking of the former legislative proposal for mandatory library trustee training originally put forth in 2007. LTA is striving to shake off the old ways of doing things and focusing on a new, vibrant approach to library trustee representation.
