issue of TrusteeFarewell From President Tish Fontanella
It’s a wrap. The End – Most times “the end” ties up all the loose ends, the characters happy and the story told, but sometimes it is a little sad and that is where I am now. I have completed my terms on the Westchester Library System Board of Trustees. It is required that to serve on the LTA Board one must be on a local board and so as of December 31, 2016, my LTA position ends. It has been a most rewarding experience serving on the LTA Board for the last six years and as President for the last year. I will miss my friends at LTA and around the state. The System Directors, Library Directors, Library staff who wrote articles for the LTA website and all those work with LTA have been wonderful in advancing our LTA mission.
A happy part will be that a new director from the Westchester Library System Board of Trustees will be taking my place, Edris Scherer. Having Terry Kirchner, Executive Director of the Westchester Library System and Edris Scherer at my last meeting a few weeks ago was great. The “dessert celebration”, was enjoyed by all. I encourage all trustees to be involved in much more than what goes on at your board table, listen to webinars, attend trustee institutes and workshops, go to Albany for Advocacy Day, talk to your legislators and your community members. Remember, the CARE logo that LTA uses is for all trustees – Connect, Advocate, Recognize and Educate. Trustee work continues. Carry on.
