ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Saturday, May 4, 2002

The Annual Membership Meeting was called to order at 12:20 pm by President Norman Jacknis.
Following his welcome, Norm introduced the Board of Directors.
Directors present: N. Jacknis, N. Simaitis, T. Thompson, D. Strauss, E. Field, J. Hurley, S. Patton, A. Smith, and B. Taber. J. Rosen, D. Krogmann, G. Manitzas and B. Wells were excused. Association Manager Karen Dyer was also in
A motion to approve the agenda for the Annual Membership Meeting of May 4, 2002 was made by Ed Field of the Ethelbert B. Crawford Memorial Library, seconded by Norm Gallagher of the Port Jervis Free Library; unanimous.
Norm briefly discussed the increased role of NYSALB at the State level. We are cosponsoring the Library Advocacy meeting in May. Our website <nysalb.org> has been improved. Promoting library service and providing educational opportunities for trustees, such as the Trustee Institute, continue to be our primary activities.
A motion to approve the minutes of the Annual Membership Meeting of May 5, 2001 was made by Ed Field, seconded by Michael Marchese of the Waterford Public Library; unanimous.
A Review of the Financial Statements for the Calendar Year 2001 from Arthur R. Venezia, CPA was distributed to the membership.
A motion to accept the Financial Report was made by Ed Field; seconded by Bill Taber of the Richfield Springs Public Library; unanimous.
The Chair of the Nominating Committee, T. Thompson, presented the slate for election to the Board of Directors:
George Manitzas – third term – Freeport Memorial Library
Francis Picart – first term – Brentwood Public Library – Suffolk Cooperative Library System
Nancy Simaitis – second term – Waverly Free Library
Jane Sweet – first term – Clarence Public Library
Martina Thompson – third term – Henrietta Public Library
Dr. William R. Taber – third term – Richfield Springs Public Library
Paula Werth – first term – Red Jacket Community Library
A motion to approve the slate and have the Chair cast a single ballot was made by Zeb Robbins of the Shenendehowa Public Library, seconded by D. Strauss of the Jordan Free Library; unanimous.
A motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:40 pm was made by N. Simaitis of the Waverly Free Library, seconded by Joan Hurley of the Horseheads Free Library;
