NEW YORK STATE ASSOCIATION OF LIBRARY BOARDS ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

The Annual Membership Meeting was called to order at 1:50 PM by President Norm Jacknis.
Following his welcome Norm introduced the Board of Directors. Directors Present: N. Jacknis, T. Thompson, R. Strauss, J. Hurley, G. Manitzas, S. Patton, W. Taber, E. Apostol, J. Taylor, J. Sweet.
A motion to approve the minutes of the Annual Membership Meeting of May 3, 2003 was made by T. Thompson, (Henrietta Library), second by W. Taber,(Richfield Springs Library). Unanimous.
A motion to approve the Treasurer’s report by R. Strauss, (Jordan Free Library), second by T. Thompson,(Henrietta Library). Unanimous.
New Business: The chair of the Nominating Committee, T. Thompson, presented the slate for election for the Board of Directors:
Joan Hurley, (Horseheads Library), (2007-2nd term)
Norm Jacknis, (Field Library, Westchester), (2007-3rd term)
Samuel Patton, (East Fishkill Community Library), (2007-2nd term)
Sharon Best, (Geneva Free Library), (2007- 1st term)
George Stamatiades, (Queens Borough Public Library), (2007- 1st term)
Motion to accept the slate by George Manitzas, (Freeport Memorial Library), second by Michael Marchese, (Waterford Public Library). Unanimous.
William Taber, requested that members consider submitting names of outstanding persons serving libraries, for the Velma Moore Award. The deadline for submitting candidates is August, 2004. The Award is presented at the Annual NYLA Conference in Rochester in October.
Sam Patton requested members submit articles for publication in the Trustee Newsletter, such as success stories, new buildings, fund raising, etc, for inclusion in the next Newsletters.
New York State Library representative, Carol Desch, presented several items from her office to raffle winners.
Norm Jacknis encouraged members to attend the 2005 Trustee Institute to be held in Syracuse next year and to bring other trustees. Motion to adjourn the by Sam Patton, (East Fishkill Community Library), second by George Manitzas, (Freeport Memorial Library). Unanimous
