Responding to Emerging Technologies: Are you prepared?
Presenter: Norman Jacknis, Senior Fellow, Intelligent Community Forum Senior Fellow, National Association of Counties
Dr. Norman Jacknis joined the Intelligent Community Forum in November 2013 as Senior Fellow. He is also the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Gotham Innovation Greenhouse, a collaborative cross-disciplinary group whose initial focus is on blending technology and design to create a new future for cities. Prior to this position, Dr. Jacknis was Director of Cisco’s IBSG Public Sector Group, the company’s open innovation and pro-bono strategic advisory group, where he worked extensively and in-depth with the National Association of Counties and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
Dr. Jacknis has extensive executive and leadership experience in local and state government. Most significantly, he served more than 10 years as Chief Information Officer and commissioner of Westchester County (NY) government where he was responsible for all the government’s technology, analytic and broadband activities as well as technology-based economic development. Under his leadership, Westchester County won numerous awards.
Among his many activities beyond his work, he is past President and now Chairman Emeritus of the Fairfield-Westchester Chapter of the Society for Information Management (a national association of CIOs and senior IT executives); Chairman of Westchester’s Internet society known as WATPA; past Chair and current member of the New York State Regents Advisory Council on Libraries; President of the New York Metropolitan Library Council; former President of NYS Association of Library Boards (now LTA); and is currently a member of the WLS Board of Trustees.
